Washington: Senator Paul Wellstone, his wife Sheila, daughter Marcia, and five others were killed today in a small plane crash in Minnesota. Peace Action sends our condolences to Sen. Wellstone's family and the people of Minnesota whom he so ably and honorably represented.
In our opinion, his courageous leadership was never better exemplified than when he cast the only vote, by a senator who was up for re-election, against the Iraq use of force resolution. To honor the life of Senator Wellstone - who was a champion of the cause of peace throughout his career - we will redouble our efforts to head-off an attack of Iraq. We invite Peace Action members and the public to join us in honoring Senator Wellstone's life.
