March 19th - MAKE WAR BAD FOR BUSINESS

“Americans will put up with anything provided it doesn't block traffic.” Dan Rather

On March 19th 2008, the 5th Anniversary of the Iraq occupation, we did just that. SPAN and Peace Action activists – along with hundreds of others – blocked traffic in the busy K-street corridor during rush hour. Over 300 students from all over the country took ground at the corner of K, Vermont, and 17th streets for 3 hours in DC; we sang, danced, and educated the public on war profiteers. It’s was AMAZING.

Watch our video and check out pictures from the day before you check out all the press for the event. We passed out valuable information about War Profiteers you can read, here. If you’d like to join us next time please contact Katherine Fuchs or Jonathan Williams.

Peace Action made international news on March 19th and we'd like to share our success with you. Check out Barbra Bearden on NBC News or our print press in the Guardian, The Associated Press, and CNN.

We had our events covered nationally by: Brooklyn Daily Eagle, Tucson Citizen, New Jersey Herald, BreitBart, The News Tribune, The HeraldNet, AmisNet, Common Dreams, Boston Globe, Forbes Online, Detroit News, NewsDay, WAVY TV Cannel 10, WSLS Hot Springs, AK, & Houston Chronicle.

Here is an interview with our SPAN Coordinator, Jonathan Williams.
