Dear Supporter of Peace,
We found the weapons of mass destruction - they're in the Bush administration's budget.
As the Bush administration's deception about Iraq's potential nuclear capacity has come to light, the administration and Congress have begun to quietly re-ignite the nuclear arms race.
- They are preparing to build new nuclear weapons and resume nuclear testing.
- The administration's official nuclear plan lowers the threshold for using nuclear weapons and calls for developing "more usable" nuclear weapons for "certain battlefield situations."
- The administration is threatening non-nuclear countries with nuclear weapons.
These are some of the most dangerous developments in two decades. They could decimate international efforts to control and, ultimately, abolish these weapons.
We are launching ads nationwide as part of our Campaign for a New Foreign Policy in order to challenge these hypocrisies. With your help, we are going to run ads just like this one across the county:
You can make this ad campaign happen. Just go to: https://www.peace-action.org/forms/WMDads.php
We have two specific goals. The first is to alert enough people to this stealth nuclear scheme to be able to demand that Congress STOP the Bush administration's reckless nuclear weapons building program. The second is to insist on a New Foreign Policy for America-one that we and future generations can live with.
Background
Polling information shows that 85% of all Americans-Republicans and Democrats-favor getting rid of all nuclear weapons including our own. The Bush Administration's official plans, as outlined in their "Nuclear Posture Review" and their "National Security Strategy," signal a radical reversal in US nuclear policy. Their stated goal is to develop a "new generation" of nuclear weapons.
Join us in stopping them from launching a new arms race.
With your help, ads like this will run in newspapers and mass transit systems throughout the country and reach millions who need to know the truth.
We need your help to build momentum for a serious political debate about our nation's role in the world. With your support we can place ads in the hometown papers of Presidential candidates and in key states. We will reach millions of commuters and newspaper readers in San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston and other cities.

If just 10% of the people receiving this e-mail contributed $40, we will run ads in all of the country's most heavily used mass transit systems.
For every 600 people on this list that contribute $50 to this project - we place another full-page ad in another major newspaper.
Please contribute in the next three days so that we can begin to secure ad space and to create the media "buzz" that will multiply our efforts. I'll send you a report as soon as possible to let you know where the ads will be running.
2. Join the growing ranks of those committed to spreading the truth. You can play an absolutely critical role in building this campaign by sending this e-mail to ten of your friends, co-workers or family members asking them to match your contribution.

3. Tell your Senator that you want to see the US lead a genuine effort to eliminate the threat from weapons of mass destruction. In the coming weeks, the Senate will deal with a number of nuclear related issues, including funding for new nuclear weapons. Tell your Senator that the US must lead a genuine effort to eliminate the threat from weapons of mass destruction. You can use our sample. Just go to:

There are no two ways about it, America needs a New Foreign Policy.
Instead of leading the world in producing nuclear weapons, let's lead a global campaign to dismantle them-including our own. Instead of leading the world in arms sales to dictatorships, let's lead a global effort to stop the arms trade. Instead of ushering in a new era of international lawlessness, let's lead the world community in addressing real and serious transnational issues.
Thanks for making this campaign happen,
Kevin Martin
