Demand
a Cease-Fire in the Middle East!
As the crisis in the Middle East grows, with the continued Israeli military
incursion in the Gaza Strip and the escalating, daily attacks between
the Israeli armed forces and Hezbollah guerillas in Lebanon, we urge
you take action at this critical time.
Please contact President Bush and Congress immediately. Urge them to
take action to bring about an immediate cease-fire in the current conflict.
TELL CONGRESS TO CATCH UP WITH THE PEACE MAJORITY!
Over 60% of Americans
believe the war in Iraq was not worth fighting. When will Congress catch
up with the rest of the country?
Representative Mike
Thompson (D-CA) has introduced a great bill which has bipartisan support.
House Concurrent Resolution 348 demands that the United States should
not maintain a permanent military presence or military bases in Iraq,
the United States should not attempt to control the flow of Iraqi oil,
and United States Armed Forces should be redeployed from Iraq as soon
as practicable after the completion of Iraq's constitution-making process
or September 30, 2006, whichever occurs first.
Your Congressmen
and women need to hear
from you!
Tell
the Senate to say NO to a permanent American presence in Iraq!
For the first time
the Senate is considering amendments aimed at ending the war in Iraq.
As part of the the Senate's consideration of Supplemental Appropriations
Bill H.R. 4939, these two amendments will be considered:
1.) Senator Russ
Feingold is offering an amendment that requires the redeployment of
U.S. forces from Iraq by the end of this year!
2.) Senator Joe
Biden is offering an amendment barring spending on permanent U.S. bases
in Iraq and on control of Iraqi oil reserves.
Click
here to tell your Senators you don’t approve of funding a
permanent U.S. presence in Iraq, that you want an end to this war and
that you want our troops to come home now!
Help
Us Find Out Why Bush is Spying on Peace Action: Support Barbara Lee's
Resolution of Inquiry for Surveillance Documents
Thanks to Freedom
of Information Act filing by our allies at the ACLU, we know for a fact
that at least two Peace Action affliates and the national Student Peace
Action Network have been spied upon by the Bush's FBI. That is why this
Resolution of Inquiry, submitted by our ally Congresswoman Barbara Lee
(D-CA), is of the upmost importance to us.

Save
New Orleans and Stop The War
In the same week
President Bush unloaded his pork-pie budget on Congress, Reuters has
reported that cash-strapped New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin was forced to
take meetings with representatives from France and Jordan in a desperate
attempt to secure funding for the rebuilding of New Orleans. This year's
record budget does not include the estimated $120 billion that Bush
will request under an "emergency supplemental" to fight the
wars in Afghanistan and Iraq this year.
Please take the
time to
write your congressperson now!
Support
Congressman John Murtha's Efforts to Bring the Troops home!gn
for
a New Foreign licy
Last week, Congressman John Murtha (D-PA) a longtime congressional hawk,
took a historic stand and came out against the war in Iraq and for bringing
our troops home. Republicans have sought to portray Murtha's call for
troop withdrawal as "cutting and running." This is nothing
but the blatant deceptions and blind partisanship of a party running
from reality.
Support Congressman
Murtha today by writing
a letter to your editors!

Force
Congress to Debate the War - HJ Res 55 Discharge Petitiongn
for a New Foreign licy
Congress must now take the lead on bringing the troops home.
A discharge petition
is a House procedure that permits members to bring to the floor a piece
of legislation that has not cleared committee, but only if 218 members
of Congress sign the petition. The discharge petition provides 17 hours
of debate and, most importantly, allows members of Congress to attach
amendments to the bill. The ability of any member, from any side, to
attach an amendment ensures that all perspectives will be debated and
voted upon.
With your
help, we can make sure that Congress provides that leadership they
were sent to Washington to provide by forcing a debate, and vote, on
the bipartisan Homeward Bound Act.

Use
Our Money To Bring Them Home gn
for a New Foreign licy
Congress must
now take the lead on bringing the troops home.
Rep Jim McGovern's
bill (The End the War in Iraq Act of 2005) would allow Pentagon funds
to be used only to provide for the orderly withdrawal of US troops and
costs associated with transition to in Iraqi/international security
structure. Write
your Representative and urge him/her to cosponsor this bill!

Stop
the Illegal Pentagon DatabaseCmpaign
for a New Foreign licy
In a desperate attempt to more aggressively target prospective recruits,
the Pentagon is now contracting with private companies to create a massive
military recruiting database full of extensive personal information
on more than 30 million young Americans. This is an alarming violation
of all citizens’ privacy, and it conflicts with the federal Privacy
Act.
Send a letter to
your Representative today
urging him or her to stop the Illegal Pentagon database and protect
student prvacy today! Remember, it's good to personalize your letter!
