Issues: Nuclear Weapons

The Reliable Replacement warhead is a dangerous new nuclear weapon the U.S. does not need. It is a violation of the nuclear non-proliferation agreement.

These new nuclear weapons are the wrong step for the U.S. They are expensive, unnessessary, and a clear violation of our agreements in the nuclear non-proliferation treaty. The endless grassroots lobbying we have done on this issue has paid off both in Congress and throughout the nation. Through Action Alerts we've educated over 100,000 people on the details of RRW. We've also hit the Hill, making hundreds of lobby visits over the past 8 years speaking out agianst the funding of RRW. Bush asked for over $20 million but due to the constant lobbying efforts of the abolition movement the Defense, Energy & Water Appropriations committees zeroed out all funding for RRW.

Complex Transformation (The BombPlex) is an unnecessary initiative designed to build new nuclear weapons.

This is nothing but an attepmt by the Bush Administration to build more nuclear weapons under the guise of making the stockpile reliable. Numerous scientists and studies show that our current stockpile is indeed reliable for almost another 100 years. Like RRW this is a clear indication that Bush has no respect for Henry Kissenger and Sam Nunn who are staunch proponants of nuclear abolition. We've made lobby visits and educated the public as well as standing in solidarity each year with our friends in Japan as they mourn the anniversaries of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
